Roraty switch for Eclipse (2010)

Eclipse torque switch by Philipp_WandEclipse rotary switch scetch by Philipp WandEclipse features a newly designed rotary switch, based on the phone jack principle.

The switch position is determined by a defined lift & rotate movement that is guided by the sleeves that form the exterior of the switch.
As it is visible from the outside, the torque switch provides its users with technical as well as aesthetic/narrative information.

The underlying principle provides the option of turning the switch in both directions ad infinitum,
whilst its switched on/off status is indicated by the position of the sleeves.

A small gap tells the user that the switch is in the OFF position. When turned ON the, the switch reveals the underlying material, the spotlight’s copper heat sink.
